When I began to dig up the car park in the front garden, I left a space for a small car. We don’t have a car ourselves (we use bikes, buses and feet where possible) but occasionally we have visitors with cars and sometimes we hire or borrow one to get to difficult to get to places. But of course the remaining space is being reclaimed by plants. There’s a buddleia which can get out of hand and block the parking space and this summer self-seeding poppies are doing their bit to reclaim the land.
This reminds me of the time a few years ago when we had heavy snow and the assistant gardeners built a snowman across the driveway. He prevented any cars from getting in for several weeks.
I wonder if the poppies will be as effective.
