Last night we went to the annual late opening of Edinburgh’s Botanic Gardens for midsummer night. We enjoyed the skyline with the Castle and Arthur’s Seat and wandered round the gardens. I always head straight for the vegetable gardens, where there were some lovely plots designed by horticultural students:
including a fairy mound, complete with Hobbit doorway (we got there with the fairy mounds first but ours don’t have Hobbits, just cats and sometimes bees).
I saw this lovely red broad bean:
But the best bit was coming home when there was a stunning sunset.
The nights may be drawing in now but midsummer is the perfect time of year.
Lovely little houses.
Like you, I tend to head for the vegetable garden!
That broad bean is a beauty! Any idea of its name? (apart from Kevin 🙂 )
no – forgot to note that down but I’m sure it could be found somewhere!
