How can it be a week since we had four inches of snow in the garden? Today we had lunch outside and hung out a washing, which nearly dried before it got dark and I sowed some seeds (just a few tiny lettuce and spinach seeds in the seed house) and I walked to the allotment wearing ordinary shoes instead of boots and I didn’t have to wear a a woolly hat and we harvested the last of the Brussels sprouts. Spring is definitely coming

Meanwhile I have plotted my revenge against the pigeons. There are signs of new growth on the broccoli and so I have put some netting round the runner bean wigwam (still there from last summer) to keep the pigeons off. I don’t like using this plastic netting stuff but it will have to do until I can think of something better.
Yes, the weather is definitely much better than last week π.
Did you cut your broccoli back once the pigeons had made a meal of it? Your plants certainly look a lot more robust than mine in the raised bed.
Yes I cut off all the ragged bits on the hope that some of it will regrow. But these plants were very (too) robust to begin with. π
Good luck with the regrow that, Jackie.
Thank goodness for that! And the days are so much longer, which makes such a difference. π
Did the netting work with the pigeons?
not sure yet! there hasn’t been much new growth as it has turned cold again. I’ll see in a few weeks
